Nearly 40 Years of Stork’s Plows

What started as a small family business in 1986 has grown into one of the most trusted and well-stocked snow plow suppliers in the country. Stork’s Plows is a Christian, family-run company founded by Gene and Theresa Stork along with their two young children, Gene Anthony (“Jeen”) and April. Today, Jeen remains a key leader in the business, continuing to push it to the next level.

From a Two-Bay Garage to Industry Leader

The business began as a modest general automotive repair shop focused on Jeeps and Renaults, with just two bays — one of them barely tall enough for a lift. Gene brought mechanical experience from his years at a Jeep dealership and plowed snow during the winter with friends. And Theresa Accounting and notary experience, But the demands of both plowing and running a shop quickly became unsustainable, and the plow contracts were dropped to focus on growing the shop.

In the early years, the Storks lived in a fixer-upper attached to the shop — a drafty house with plastic-covered windows during snowy winters. Despite the challenges, the family steadily improved the space, expanded the shop to three bays, and began selling a few plows on the side, often mounted to Jeeps.

What set Stork’s apart early on was the realization that there was strong demand for rebuilt plows — a more affordable option for customers — which naturally fueled the growth of new plow sales as well.

Breaking Into the Snow Plow Market

After an initial struggle to get the attention of major manufacturers, an opportunity arose in 1996 to become a Meyer/Diamond sub-dealer. Within a few years, Stork’s became a direct Meyer dealer. This opened the door for future growth, including distributorships with Blizzard, Snoway, Fisher, and later Western and SnowEx.

As the business expanded, the Storks steadily acquired surrounding properties to make room for more inventory, customers, and service space. By 2002, they had added longer bays to accommodate trucks with plows and spreaders. But even with more space, the growing customer base often overwhelmed the original shop’s parking and layout.

Becoming Stork’s Plows

In 2008, Jeen launched the company’s e-commerce site — originally under storksauto.com, later transitioning to storksplows.com. That digital shift opened Stork’s Plows to a nationwide audience. In 2016, the legal name was officially changed to Stork’s Plows, and all automotive repair was phased out to focus entirely on snow and ice equipment.

By then, the business was booming. Between April 2015 and March 2016, Stork’s sold 720 plows — a record that was broken again in 2019/2020, and then again in 2020/2021 with 1,026 plows sold, even during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Largest Inventory on the East Coast

Today, Stork’s Plows stocks over 2,000 snow plows year-round and carries what is believed to be the largest and most diverse plow inventory in the world — including a huge selection of obsolete parts that most dealers no longer carry. Employees from many major plow manufacturers have toured Stork’s facilities to see firsthand what a “full stock” really looks like.

Our product knowledge and technical advice have been featured in Snow Magazine and several industry podcasts. Our team lives and breathes snow and ice equipment — year-round.

A Family Business

In 2019, Theresa stepped back from day-to-day operations, selling her shares to Gene and Jeen, officially transitioning the business to a father-and-son partnership. That same year, Stork’s reached 20 employees — including a seasoned, dedicated crew across customer service, inventory, shipping, and shop operations.

To accommodate continued growth, we acquired a 9.5-acre property in 2021, just 12 minutes from the original site. The new facility — formerly Ozzy’s Family Fun Center — features a 55,000 sq. ft. building, space for 150 vehicles, a 22,000 sq. ft. under-roof plow display area, a large showroom, and a dedicated waiting room.

This expansion allowed us to operate far more efficiently — especially during peak season — with a large parts counter that can serve 4–5 customers simultaneously, helping get them in and out quickly.

Looking Ahead

Now approaching our 40th anniversary, we remain grounded in the same values: faith, family, integrity, and service. What started with a few Jeeps and a passion for plows has become something far bigger than we ever imagined — and we're just getting started.

Whether you’re a contractor, dealer, or DIYer, Stork’s Plows is here to provide the parts, equipment, and support you need — from rare legacy components to full modern plow setups — with unmatched inventory and industry knowledge.

Snow Alliance: Growing the Industry Through Education

In 2023, Jeen launched an idea called Snow Alliance — an initiative to grow and strengthen the snow and ice management industry through hands-on education. This includes plow repair schools and an annual spring conference designed to foster training, collaboration, and innovation.

The inaugural event took place on April 15, 2023, with Western Snowplows as the premier sponsor. Following industry feedback, the first year focused on brine usage, featuring expert training sessions and panel discussions covering everything from initial setup to daily operations.

Building on that success, the event has grown rapidly. By 2025, Snow Alliance had more than doubled in size, drawing attendees from 21 U.S. states and Canada. What started as a local event has quickly evolved into a regional force for education and connection in the snow industry.

Each year, Snow Alliance introduces new classes, hands-on workshops, live demos, vendor trade shows, and evening networking events — all hosted at our new facility in Leesport, PA.
