Stork's Plows Fleet School
The Vision of Snow Alliance is... Inspiring Innovation through Education and Collaboration.
One way we carry out that mission is by sharing what we have learned over the years working on plows and spreaders, day in and day out. So over the past 2 years in the Fall we have done a Fleet Repair School and an Install School.
We teach general information that can carry across any brand but the focus for most of the info and the products used are Western, Fisher, and Snowex.
An example of a Fleet School Day is below:
-
The day starts with Registration and a light Breakfast at 7:30
-
Around 8 we sit down in a class room setting, do introductions and do an over view of how to find and use the electrical diagrams.
-
After the teaching portion, we get to the hands on and head down to our shop in groups. We will have trucks with plows and spreaders that will have bugs to test and fix. There will be wiring issues and the parts and tools needed to fix each. You will work through the stations one at a time fixing each issue.
-
Around noon there will be lunch provided.
-
After Lunch we will sit down again and go over the Hydraulics
-
Once that class room time is done back to the test stands where we not test and fix hydraulic issues.
An example of a Install School Day is below:
-
The day will start with a light Breakfast at 7:30 in our confrence room we will go over some rules and introductions and head to the Shop.
-
We will break into 5 groups of 5 people or less, and we will assemble some new plows out of the crate, and do truck side installs on both plows and spreaders. The teaching will focus on the right way to install wiring as well as tips and tricks to setting them up, this will not just help if you choose to install your own but will help you find and fix problems as well.
-
Around noon there will be lunch.
-
We will have a tech working directly with each group and lots of time for questions and covering items as they come up.
-
Class will finish once the install is complete and test have been completed.
